Our society has consistently changing standards of beauty, but one standard has remained quite constant over the past several decades: hourglass figures on women are the preferred shape. If you look at Dolly Parton’s 100 million in record sales against Bonnie Raitt’s 8 million in record sales, you’ll admit that the levels of talent between these two women do not reflect such a disparity in numbers. What does reflect a disparity is their appearance, and while both women are attractive, Parton’s physical features are more voluptuous. Could this be the primary reason she has sold more records? Sophia Loren might have been right in that attractiveness and sexual appeal come from within. There are many women in Hollywood and elsewhere who most men would consider to be sexually appealing, even though their figures are not as curvy as Loren’s or Parton’s. Other women, such as Keira Knightley, are almost completely flat-chested, yet still retain an air of sexuality and sex appeal.
