YSL presents us their new fragance for men L’Homme Libre!, in english The Free Men. For men who are not afraid to express their feelings and are able to be themselves. For the modern urban man. But let’s go to one of the most important things when talking about perfume:

The ingredients

Two perfumers, Olivier Polge in Paris and Carlos Benaïm in New York, created L’Homme Libre, the newest facet of L’Homme by Yves Saint Laurent. Together, they have reinterpreted the territory of woody aromatics by adding a fresh modernity to the fragrance.
After a hesperide opening featuring Calabrian bergamot, the fragrance reveals a new freshness enhanced by violet leaves, basil and star anis, and enlivened with a shiver of nutmeg and pink pepper.

The woody architecture of patchouli and vetiver anchors the accord in a sparkling, masculine register, while the scent of resin and warm leather flows like a warm breeze through the heart of the city.

A fragrance resolutely modern, subtle and yet very present, expressing power and freedom. The elegance of a classic structure in tension with an unexpected, fresh aquatic touch.

The Bottle

Sculpted in light, L’Homme Libre bottle follows the same graphic codes as L’Homme and La Nuit de L’Homme.
A transparent hexagonal cap and smoky blue bottle that becomes progressively lighter as it rises, fills the senses and the spirit.
An almost electric blue cuts through the bottle like an exclamation point. Against the matte silver packaging, the same powerful blue illuminates the YSL Cassandre signature logo that in turn seems to vibrate in the intensity of the surrounding hexagonal waves.
This same color energises the fragrance’s name – L’Homme Libre – across the box and the bottle.

In 2009, LANCÔME celebrated forty years of its most famous feminine eau by creating a new tale of freshness. And so Ô D’AZUR was born, a sensorial fresh eau, as refreshing as ever, but also deliciously sensual. A burst of lemon essence and a dash of pink pepper to dazzle the senses, enhanced by a playful hint of damask rose with luxuriant musk and ambrette seed base notes… Ô D’AZUR is the tale of a late Summer’s afternoon on the French riviera, as the heat of the day fades and the air becomes deliciously cool. In 2011 the tale continues… the latest Ô chapter is written, with the creation of Ô DE L’ORANGERIE: a light, zesty, orange blossom absolute caress that dances across skin as delicately as a light mist. LANCÔME’s most recent tale of tantalising freshness.

A stroll under the shade of the Orange Blossom trees

The Orangery… a timeless place, a unique garden full of elegance and refinement. A moment suspended in time, lulled by the smooth, exquisite notes of a French orangery’s beautiful orange blossom vista. Ô DE L’ORANGERIE recounts the tale of a gentle stroll along these paths on a beautiful Summer’s day, moving through the dappled sunlight. As the day becomes cooler a light breeze runs through the trees, delicately perfuming the air with an echo of the blossoms’ scent. Ô DE L’ORANGERIE is a dream, an emotion, a subtle, fresh eau, in which every facet is expressed with intensity and serenity.

A modern-day tribute to fresh orange blossom, Ô DE L’ORANGERIE allows the abundant nuances of this unique note to speak for themselves. At times fresh and velvety, at others intense and delicate, this mysterious flower emerges in all its glory under the auspices of the two revered perfumers, Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion.

“We wanted to create a unique orange blossom that offers magnificent facets. When combined with the most beautiful zests, aquatic tones and vibrant woody accents, it takes on a whole new dimension”, described Anne Flipo.
“We had in mind the idea of fresh and dazzling femininity”, adds dominique ropion, “and we dreamed of a sophisticated fragrance that celebrates this mythical perfumery flower whilst allowing it to unveil itself modestly and majestically.”

Orange blossom’s full audacity is expressed in Ô DE L’ORANGERIE thanks to its two precious ingredients; fresh and crisp orange flower essence and orange blossom absolute with smooth, honey-sweet accents. a multitude of sensations develop around these rich and precious notes; the effervescent flavor of bergamot and orange zest gives way to the freshness of a crystalline aquatic chord, rounded off by the softness of jasmine petals. Finally, the vibrancy of wood and smoothness of benzoin heighten the voluptuousness of this incomparable orange blossom. LANCÔME creates Ô DE L’ORANGERIE, an orange blossom brimming with Ô that brings out its radiant, fresh and petal-like facets.

A signature bottle

Ô DE L’ORANGERIE, the youngest in the family, features in the bottle reinvented in 2009 by Fabien Baron to celebrate Ô de LANCÔME’s 40th birthday; a contemporary and refined reinterpretation of the previous bottle, still engraved with the spirals from the original design, inspired by water’s undulating waves.
The transparent glass leaves the unique shade of Ô DE L’ORANGERIE’s elixir free to shine through; an aqua green as tender as the heart of an orange blossom flower.

Many Years ago, cosmetics companies were accountable for the designer perfumes that lined counters in fancy department stores. Names like Christian Dior, Estee Lauder, Chanel, and Guerlain, were all the rage and they often would get celebrities to endorse their designer perfumes. Nowadays, celebrities don’t want to endorse another company’s perfume line. The vogue in tinseltown is for every starlet to have her own line of designer perfumes and cosmetics.

Do you think celebrities actually have a hand in things?

The degree to which a superstar is involved in the designer perfume that is sold in their name can vary. Some celebrities turn the design tasks over to experts and simply give their approval on the finished items. Other celebrities are deeply involved in the process from the creation stages to the marketing of the designer perfume.

While Celine Dion was involved in every aspect of the formation of her designer perfume, but that doesn’t mean she donned a lab coat and actually mixed the vials of scent like a well-known mad scientist. Rather Celine Dion was involved in the creation process that decided just what kind of fragrance she wanted to manufacture. She also participated in designing the bottle and the promotion of her newest line.

Jennifer Lopez is another celebrity that was very much involved in the production of her designer perfume. Since she once worked at a cosmetics counter, Jennifer Lopez knew exactly what she wanted her signature fragrance to smell like. The manufacturer that worked out the fragrance combination credits her with including the hint of sake scent that tops off the perfume.

She even had a pretend diamond ring or necklace on the neck of the bottle design as a tribute to her penchant for wearing jewelry. By staying involved with each aspect of her scent’s creation, she can make sure that the perfume genuinely reflects who she is.

Paris Hilton on the other hand did not participate in the creation of her perfume but she does take a large role in the marketing of her perfume. If she wasn’t a famous face, the perfume would probably get lost among the many other fragrances at the local store and online perfume websites.

Celebrity designer perfumes is growing in popularity

When Elizabeth Taylor, first introduced designer perfumes decades ago, the reaction was mixed. Many critics felt that celebrity perfumes were just a fad. But t today with many celebrities, such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Britney Spears, joining the ranks of perfume creators, the sales of celebrity fragrances is daily growing in popularity and sales.

In this introductory article on perfumes, I should mention that I love the perfumes. I like much more than the shoes, can you believe me? Well if it’s true I really like it more than the shoes and I have ready a collection of them. For me there is nothing better than a perfume that others can notice and tell me how rich i smell. Anyway, I have a collection of perfumes and I use them depending on the day or night, event or occasion.

I believe that there is nothing better than a good perfume to stir passions. Well, in the the world of perfumes there are 3 notes and the notes are not otherwise the oils that make perfumes, each get a smell or get a different note in each of the stages of evaporation: these stages are 3 and this is what we call notes.

1) Top Note
This note is usually mild and consist of citrus and aromatic ingredients. It is the first impression gives us the perfume, its purpose is to impact those who smell. It does not last more than fifteen minutes.

2) Average rating
Also known as the heart, has the main ingredients of the fragrance and determines the true spirit of the perfume. Its aroma is seen minutes after application, and may last up to four hours.

3) Note the background or base
It is the perfume fixative, which allows the fragrance to smell for several hours or even days. Its function is to determine the components of the notes.

Types of perfumes

At present we can distinguish between 5 types of fragrances depending on the concentration which has to do with the raw materials used to create the fragrance.

1) extract or perfume: it has higher concentration of aromatic essence, it goes from 18% and can reach up to 40% alcohol mixed with high alcohol content.

It usually occurs in small bottles and has a very intense aroma. It requires only a few drops on the wrists, behind the ear, among others, to be perfumed. Experts recommend applying it with the cap, not fingers, to avoid contamination.

2) Eau de Parfum:
It contains a lower percentage of aromatic essences mixed with alcohol usually 90 ° Between 10% and 19%. You can use every day, in greater amounts than the extract and in the same areas than this. Almost always more expensive than Eau de Toilette.

3) Eau de Toilette:
is the lighter version in the family of perfumes, ideal for casual wear. It has a concentration ranging between 5% and 10% of aromatic oils in alcohol usually 85 ° and 2% of essence. Experts recommend not apply to the skin but on clothing.

4) Eau de Cologne:
for many the best option for daily use because it is the most refreshing and diluted version. It has a much lower concentration, between 3% and 5%, mixed in water and 70 per cent alcohol and its duration is less than the Eau de Toilette.

5) Eau Fraîche:
lighter and more refreshing than Eau de Cologne so many houses have launched it like a fragrance ideal for those who practice outdoor activities. He has a heart rate of between 1% and 3%, the latest versions do not contain alcohol to prevent skin spots. For the softness of its aroma can be applied several times a day.

And you, what perfume do you prefer?

1. Starts to get advise of the different preferences: favorite flowers, fresh or dried, species, etc.. If you want the scent as a means of seduction or prefer to be discreet. This will help you to get better advise.

2. Start by smelling the perfume on a strip of absorbent paper. If you like it, then place it on your skin. When you try a fragrance, let evaporate in a natural way on the inside of the wrist.

3. With just a few drops and a few minutes the fragrance on your skin come alive.

What not to do

1. Smelling a fragrance from the bottle, since your nose only receive the strong notes of alcohol and acid and the high notes of the same. Only your skin will allow the fragrance to live, and only disclose your notes and will be perceived in a unique way on your skin.

2. Never rub on the site where you apply the perfume. This friction procedure damages the molecules altering the notes.

3. Do not try more than three fragrances. Your olfactory senses are saturated, making it almost impossible to distinguish between different essences.

We ask the expert and the recommend us:

1. Do not rush the choice of perfume. It is important to try and discover new flavors. Furthermore it is also important to know that our olfactory memory is trained to remember no more than three fragrances at a time, so it will be necessary to return to the store a few times. In case of olfactory fatigue, you can refresh the scent sniffing coffee beans, or just taking a bit of fresh air.

2. Try scents on a clean skin, as other perfumes or even cream body can alter the impression of a perfume.

3. Just as we change clothes depending on the time of day or season, should also use different perfumes. Fragrances without alcohol, citrus or green are suitable for outdoor activities or hot days. For urban life, a fragrance can be used a more complex fragrance with more personality. At night, a sensual aroma to passionate!

4. To print a subtle and discreet the use of shower gel and body cream for a fragrance is enough. For a more intense fragrance, use the Eau de Parfum. Avoid using a lot of perfume that can disturb people around you.

5. The fragrance should be applied while maintaining the flask at a distance of about 30 cm on the neck, arms and back of the knee. We can also create a cloud of perfume to spray and pass underneath (with eyes closed) at a time to impregnate skin, hair and clothing.

6. Keep perfumes away from sources of heat and light for avoid that it natural smell and color are not damaged.

7. The best time to apply you perfume is in the morning because after rest and without even having been in contact with the air of the city, the smell can define more easy the purity of the fragrance.
